Carroll Kenneth V. Carroll, 65, of Schuyler, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997, at his home. Born April 25, 1932, in Schuyler, Nelson County, he was a son of William Early Carroll and Lottie Branch Carroll. Mr Carroll, the oldest of nine children, began working at Alberene Stone Company of Schuyler, prior to graduating Schuyler High School in 1950. He entered the U.S. Army in Dec. 1952 with company F, the 148th Infantry Regiment at Camp Polk, La. He then returned to the employment of Alberene Stone Company and began as a general laborer, then advanced to layout and design, and was elected president of the union. He then became plant superintendent during its peak of production when th company over 1,500 people. He eventually became president and owner of Alberene Stone Corporation as well as Higgins Engineering Incorporated. Upon his retirement he remained as a consultant to New Alberene Stone after Tulikivi of Finland purchased the soapstone facility. After a successful career of 46 years with these companies he retired and remained active in managing Schuyler Land Development Company. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Hubert (Smokey) Carroll, Bernard R. Carroll; and a sister, Peggy C.Tinnell. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Wyonno Goolsby Carroll; his daughters, Vickie C. Lockwood and her husband, the Rev. Robert P. Lockwood, of Norfolk, and Kenda C. Mawyer and her husband Jeffrey F. Mawyer, of Faber; his mother, Lottie Branch Carroll of Lovingston Health Care Center; an especially close nephew, Randy K. Tinnell of Arrington; three grandchildren, April and Chris Lockwood, and Madalyn Mawyer; five sisters, June C. Napier of North Garden, Corine C. Napier of Tampa, Fla., Earlene Buzzard and Brenda C. Amos, both of Schuyler, and Audrey Jean Rice of Scottesville; and his mother-in-law, Annie Currier of Schuyler. The family will receive friends this evening at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home, Scottesville, from 7 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held Saturday Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Bob Lockwood officiating. Interment will follow at Scottesville cemetery.
