Obituary:  Maxine Shelton Carter

  Maxine Shelton Carter, 74, of Faber, (Nelson County), died Friday, Oct. 17, 
2003, in a local hospital. Born April 10, 1929, in Charlottesville, she was 
the daughter of the late Garland Shelton and Navara Roberts Shelton. Maxine 
retired from Michie Co. in 1991 after 30 years, served as a Sunday school 
teacher for 40 years and was a member of Covesville Baptist Church.
  She is survived by her husband, Carl H. Carter Sr. of Faber; a daughter, 
Linda C. Price and her husband, Larry, of North Garden; two sons, Carl H. 
Carter Jr. and his wife, Tracy, of Faber, and Thomas B. Carter and his wife, 
Bonnie, of North Garden; three grandchildren, Amanda Price, Mindy Carter and 
Tommy Carter; and one great-granddaughter, Arianna Price.
  A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today, at Hill & Wood Funeral Home, 
with Dr. James Eads officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. 
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 this evening.
  Arrangements are by Hill & Wood Funeral Home.
