Obituary: Bobby Joe Chappell, 2003 Source: The Daily Progress, June 12, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow, aquaair@erols.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Bobby Joe Chappell, 65, of Dick Woods Road, Afton, (Nelson County), died Tuesday morning, June 10, 2003, at his residence. Born June 1, 1938, in Yukon, W.Va., he was the son of the late William Charles Chappell and Minnie Myrtle Simmons Chappell. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank; and his sister, Opal. Bobby was retired from Consolidated Coal Company at Bishop, Va., as a General Mine Foreman, was a U.S. Army Veteran and attended Trinity Christian Center at Waynesboro. He is survived by his loving wife, Billie J. Farmer Chappell; one daughter, Sherri C. Conn and her husband, Tim, of Tazewell; two grandchildren, Sarah Katheryn Nicole Conn and William Robert Jason Conn; his siblings include, Margaret Massamore, Helen Dussia, Pauline Christian, Wayne Chappell, Vivian Shoup and Effie Shoun. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Katherine Varacalli of Waynesboro; his father-in-law, Frank Farmer of Duffield; his sisters-in-law, Terry F. Hughes, of Nellysford, Helen Nunley and her husband, Russell, of Bluefield, W.Va., and Linda Beverly and her husband, Dick, of Charlottesville. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Peery and St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell with the Rev. David Snodgrass and the Rev. Max Linkous officiating with interment in Grandview Memorial Gardens at Tazewell. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston and all other times at the family residence.
