Obituary: Carroll Edward Fitzgerald, 2002 Source: Lynchburg News & Advance, Lynchburg, Va, Sunday, February 9, 2003 Contributor: Elodie Thompson ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cora Lee Proffitt Clements, 87, of Amherst, died Friday, Feb.7, 2003, at Medical Care Center in Lynchburg. She was the wife of the late Otho William Clements. Born Aug. 11, 1915, in Nelson County, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Henry Proffitt and Cora Lee Martin Proffitt. She was a member of St. Stephens Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Jane Clements of Amherst and Shirley Clements Martin of Nellysford; two sons, Fred William Clements and wife Dorothy of Tye River, and Wayne P. Clements and wife Genevieve of Amherst; four sisters, Katherine Scott of Gladys, Sadie Smoot and Gertrude Vest of Madison Heights, and Margaret Thomas of Lynchburg, 10 grandchildren, Freddie, David, Deborah, Becky, Ricky, Stacie, Stephanie, Selena, Lisa and Ronny, six great-grandchildren, David, Willie, Kayla, Cassidy, Casey, and Kayla. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Elwood and Raymond Proffitt; four sisters, Ethel Proffitt, Essie Hudson, Mattie Bryant, and Irene Williams; and one grandson, Douglas Otho Bryant. Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home, by Pastor Carroll Martin Jr., with burial in St. Stephens Cemetery.
