Obituary: Rudolph H. Coffey, Sr. Source: Waynesboro News Virginian, October 31, 1999 ------------------------------------------------------- AMHERST -- Rudolph Hamilton Coffey, Sr., 73, of Little Lake Lane, Amherst, died Friday evening in a Charlottesville nursing home. Born Oct. 17, 1926 at Rockfish Valley in Nelson County, he was a son of the late Samuel P. Coffey and June Hilderbrand Brower Coffey. He was a retired Civil Service employee with the United States Naval Base at Norfolk, a World War II Navy veteran and a member of Clifford Baptist Church at Clifford. He is survived by his wife, Erma Nooney Coffey; a daughter, Erma M. Miles and husband John of Saudi Arabia; two sons, Rudolph H Coffey, Jr. and wife Joyce of Stuarts Draft and Samuel E. Coffey of Virginia Beach, two sisters, Mable A. Painter and Evelyne Gochenour, both of Waynesboro, and a brother, John Davis Coffey, Sr. of Edenbury; eight grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Monday (Nov 1, 1999) at 3 p.m. at Clifford Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Fitzgerald officiating, with interment in Woodland Memorial Cemetery in Colleen. The family suggests that those wishing to make memorial contributions consider the Clifford Baptist Church Building fund at Clifford, Va., 24533.
