OBITUARY: DAVIS L. COFFEY, 1991 SOURCE: Daily News Leader, Staunton, VA, 7 Oct 1991 -------------------------------------------------------- WAYNESBORO -- Davis L. Coffey, 73, formerly of Rt. 4, Box A-7, died Saturday (Oct. 5, 1991) at a hospital in Salem. He was born in Nelson County a son of Ernest and Rosea (Taylor) Coffey. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 1325th Service Command Unit. He was employed by Mathers Construction Co. in Waynesboro for 12 years prior to retirement. He was preceded, in death by his wife, Lottie Mae Coffey, in 1968. Survivors include a son, Jerry L. Coffey, of Waynesboro; a daughter, Lisa Ann Rakes of Waynesboro; two sisters, Nellie A. Clark of Stuarts Draft and Polly B. See, of Waynesboro; three brothers, Pearl D. and Wilson M., both of Waynesboro and Earl D. Coffey of Stuarts Draft; and a number of nieces and nephews. A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Augusta Memorial Park by L. Roger Powell. Stuarts Draft VFW Post No. 9339 will conduct military rites. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at the Waynesboro chapel of Etter Funeral Home. Additional survivors include three grandchildren, Heidi M. Coffey, Heather A.
