Obituary: JOHN W. COFFEY, 1945 Source: Staunton News Leader, 9 Dec 1945 Contributor: Carol Harlow -------------------------------------------------------- John Walton Coffey died suddenly at two-thirty Saturday afternoon at his home on the Parkersburg Pike. Mr. Coffey was born in Nelson County May 19, 1866, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Morris W. Coffey. He is survived by two sons, William Coffey, caretaker at the North River dam; John W. Coffey, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Rudolph Lanning, route five; Mrs. Mary Van Fossen, Staunton; Mrs. W. F. Owen, Simmons, W. Va.; fourteen grand-children, eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Nick Coffey of Verona; two sisters, Miss Alice Coffey and Mrs. Mary Huett, Stuarts Draft. He was a member of the Beverley Street Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at two-thirty Monday from Beverley Street Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. D. N. Welford, burial following in Thornrose Cemetery.
