Obituary: Dorothy E. (Thurston) Coffey, 2002 Source: The Daily Progress, August 16, 2002 Contributor: Dennis Truslow --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dorothy Elizabeth Thurston Coffey, 76, of Schuyler, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, in a Waynesboro nursing home. Born Oct. 9, 1925, in Charlottesville, she was the daughter of the late Wesley F. Thurston and Emma Burton Thurston. She was the widow of David A. Coffey. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Marvin Thurston. She and her husband owned and operated Coffey's Market in Schuyler for many years. She is survived by four sisters, Mary T. Harris of Faber, Phyllis Eason of Winter Park, Fla., Elsie T. Bridgewater and Peggy Thurston, both of Lovingston; two brothers, Carlton Thurston of Altus, Okla. and William "Buster" Thurston of Keene; a sister-in-law, Frances Pettrie of Charlottesville; a special friend, Bernard Woodson of Schuyler; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel, Lovingston. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday morning in Rockspring Cemetery in Faber with the Rev. Jim Bushong officiating.
