Coleman, of Afton, a longtime teacher for the Waynesboro Public Schools, died Thursday August 28, 2003, at her residence. Complete arrangements will be announced by McDow Funeral Home in Waynesboro. Source: The Daily Progress, Saturday, August 30, 2003 Esther Montague Coleman, 81, of 5243 Rockfish Valley Hwy., Nellysford, Va. died Thursday, August 28, 2003, at her residence. She was born January 5, 1922, in Charlottesville, Va., daughter of John Jay Coleman and Virginia Lee Coleman. She received her Bachelor Degree from Longwood College, and Masters and Doctorate in Education from the University of Virginia. Miss Coleman was a longtime Medical Technologist for Dr. Andrew McLaughlin. She taught chemistry at Waynesboro High School. She was a member of Rockfish Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are her sister, Mrs. Jean Strafford of Waynesboro; two nephews, Richard and John Strafford, both of Richmond. Funeral services will be private. There will be no public viewing or visitation at McDow Funeral Home.
