Obituary: Harrison James Cox, 2003 Source: The Daily Progress, January 20, 2003 Contributor: Charlie Truslow ----------------------------------------------------------------- Harrison James Cox, 83, of Shipman, departed this life Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at the Lovingston Health Care Center. Born July 20, 1919, in Nelson County, he was a son of the late Willie Cox and Charlotte Braddock Cox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Brown Cox in 1986; and by his brothers, William and Eugene Cox. He was retired from the Southern Railroad and S. L. Williamson and Company. He was a member of Montreal Baptist Church at Shipman. He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, Shirley Mae Elcox of Shipman, Charlotte Foster of Arrington, and Margaret Thomas of Germantown, Md.; his son, Harrison W. Cox of Collage Park, Md.; two brothers, Calvin Cox of Madison Heights, and Rexford Cox of Silver Springs, Md.; 11 grandchildren; five sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday from Montreal Baptist Church with the Rev. Ruth Massie officiating, and the Rev. Horace Spears serving as Eulogist. Interment will follow in Little Zion Baptist Church Cemetery on Hubbards Hill. Friends may call the church after 11 a.m. Wednesday for viewing and visitations and all other times at the residence of Shirley Elcox at Shipman.
