Obituary: Florence Bernice (O’Dell) Craighead Source: The Daily Progress, June 18, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow, aquaair@erols.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Florence Bernice Craighead, 85, of 117 North Myrtle Street, Haughton, La., died peacefully Saturday, June 14, 2003, at her son’s residence in Afton, Va. She was born June 19, 1917, in Winnsboro, Texas, a daughter of Joe and Hummie O’Dell. She spent over 40 years in retail sales in Bossier City and Shreveport, and once owned a small dress shop in Haughton, La. She was a gentle person who loved life and was grateful for her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Royce Craighead in 1975, and her second husband Walton H. White in 2001. Survivors include her son, Larry D. Craighead and his wife, Barbara of Afton, Va.; two grandchildren, David Royce Craighead, Patricia Lynette Craighead Shifflett and her husband, Douglas; and one great-granddaughter, Hanna Kaylyn Shifflett. She was a long-time member of the Southern Methodist Church of Haughton, La. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, La. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Cemetery, Haughton, La.
