Obituary: Beulah (Wells) Estes, 2003 Source: The Daily Progress, June 25, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mrs. Beulah "Helena" Wells Estes, 74, of Charlottesville, Va., died Sunday, June 22, 2003. She was born in Faber, Va., April 24, 1929, to the late Lars Wells and Surrilla Fields Wells. Her husband, Paul S. Estes Sr., preceded her in death. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a graduate of Nelson County High School and an active lifetime member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church in Faber, Va. Her spirit is like the symbol of the dove, peaceful and gentle. She has flown to the rest in the arms of the Lord. Though physically she has left us, she will live forever in our hearts and minds. Mother, grandma, "Sissy" you will be missed by all who knew and loved you and were loved by you. You fed our hearts with patience, kindness and mercy, and nourished our bodies with the best food this side of the Mississippi. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Paul Estes Jr., of Albuquerque, N.M.; two daughters Helena Estes Johnson and her husband, Jeffery, and Paula Estes Fowler and her husband, Floyd, all of Charlottesville, Va.; one brother, Lawerence Wells of Charlottesville, Va.; three sisters, Margaret Wells Parrish of Staunton, Va., Emma W. Johnson and Frances Gohanna of Charlottesville, Va.; nine grand- children, Yukie, Katrina, and Nina Johnson, all of Charlottesville, Samitra and Jamal Fowler and Anesia Estes, all of Charlottesville, Va., Akeema Richardson and Helena Estes, both of New York, Jasmine Estes of Albuquerque, N.M.; and a great- grandchild, Jasiah Gleen of New York; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Estes and Ardelia B. Wells of Charlottesville, Va.; three brothers-in-law, Robert Parrish of Staunton, Va., and George Gohanna of Charlottesville, Va., and Herbert Estes of Hampton, Va.; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2003, at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, Faber, Va., with the Rev. Gordon Fields officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
