NELSON COUNTY, VA - OBITUARIES - Winfred Lewis Foster, 22 Mar 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Source: The Daily Progress, Friday, March 26, 2004 Winfred Lewis Foster, 63, formally of Shipman, (Nelson County), died Monday, March 22, 2004, at Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, Md. Born Nov. 29, 1940, in Charlottesville, he was a son of Mildred F. Foster of Shipman/Silver Spring, Md., and the late Preston Foster. He was a graduate of Nelson County High School, Member of Bright Hope Baptist Church and an employee of The Sheraton Park Hotel in Washington. Besides his mother Mildred M. Foster of Shipman, he is survived by two daughters, Teresa Essex and her husband, Lewis, of Arrington and Michele Foster of Lovingston; two sons, Steven Foster and his wife, Tonya, of Palmyra and Jason Foster of Washington, D.C.; a step-son, the Rev. Marcus Barber of Prince George Co., Md.; a sister, Lillian L. Foster of Silver Spring, Md.; a brother, Thurman G. Foster of Alexandria; his uncle, Rev. William M. Foster and his wife, Elsie, of Shipman; a devoted cousin, Rennie D. Scott of Shipman; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Alice Foster and Catherine Foster and several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bright Hope Baptist Church in Lovingston with the Rev. William M. Foster officiating, with Interment in the Foster Family Cemetery in Shipman. The family will receive friends one hour before time of service at Bright Hope Baptist Church.
