Obituary: Ruth Ester (Campbell) Falls, born Nov. 11, 1914, died July 14, 2002 Source: Daily Progress, July 16, 2002 Contributor: Dennis Truslow ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ruth Campbell Falls Ruth Ester Campbell Falls, 87, of Rhue Hollow Road, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 14, 2002. Born Nov. 11, 1914, in Nelson County, she was a daughter of the James and Gertrude Mawyer Campbell. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Hawthorne F. Falls on July 14, 1986. Mrs. Falls was a lifetime member of Beech Grove Christian Church. She was active in Piney Mountain Bible Chapel, very active with the Rockfish JABA Senior Citizens, and retired from the Nelson County school system after many years of service. She enjoyed gardening and was devoted to her family, with whom she enjoyed traveling. She is survived by a son, Donald T. Falls (Eleanor) of Waynesboro; three daughters, Bernice F. Sutphin (Gene) of Troutville, Betty Lou F. Campbell (Davis) of Waynesboro, and Rhonda F. Saunders (Larry) of Charlottesville; two sisters, Pauline C. Patrick and Mary C. Puckett; eight grandchildren, Tedford (Sherry) Falls, Jeffrey (Terri) Falls, Donna Lee Falls Koehler (George), Dennis E. Sutphin (Elizabeth), Edgar Lynn Campbell (Pam), Candace Campbell-Rhodenizer (Gene), Sarah E. Saunders, and David A. Saunders; two step-grandchildren, Brenda Sutphin Shaw (Bill) and Joseph P. Sutphin (Fonda); 12 great-grandchildren, Jenna Falls, Brooke Falls, Dakota Falls, Gabriel Falls, Ryan Koehler, Rachel Koehler, Ashley Spears, Adam Sutphin, John Sutphin, Victoria Sutphin, Brandon Campbell, and Brittanie Campbell; three step-great-grandchildren, Dustin Sutphin (Pam), Brandon Sutphin, and Kelly Sutphin; two step-great-great-grandchildren, Michael and Kistin; and a number of nieces, nephews, and many loving relatives and friends in the community, to whom the family wishes to express appreciation for all their kindness. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at Beech Grove Christian Church, with burial in Beech Grove Cemetery.
