Obituary: Garnett R. Falls, 2000 Source: Unknown Newspaper Contributor: J. Tyler Humphreys ------------------------------------------------------------------ Garnett Reginald Falls, 74, of 2744 Lyndhurst Road, Waynesboro, died (Oct. 2, 2000) at his residence. He was born June 22, 1926, at Roseland in Nelson County, son of the late Charles E. and Olive Campbell Falls. Mr. Falls was an active member of Glovier Memorial United Methodist Church, where he was Sunday School superintendent for over 30 years. The church was his life and he headed many projects for church improvement. He was president of the United Methodist Men and a mamber of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. He was an avid outdoorsman with a great love of coon hunting and spent many hours at his "Papa's Mountain." He retired on May 1, 1985, as electrical supervisor at the Waynesboro DuPont Plant with 38 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by two sisters, Fleta Pillow and Edna Panck; and three brothers, Norvell, Randolph, and Hawthorne Falls. Survivors include his wife, Betty Lou Roadcap Falls, with whom he celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on May 27; one son, Garnett R. Falls Jr. and his wife, Roni, of West Chester, Pa.: two daughters, Tammie L. Humphreys and her husband, Jeff, of Dinwiddie and Tonya A. Morgan and her husband Kevin, of Glen Allen; seven grandchildren, Matthew Garnett Falls, Victoria Falls, Tyler Humphreys, Levi Humphreys, Layton Humphreys, Joshua Morgan, and Cierra Morgan; two sisters, Thelma Bradley of Vesuvius and Josie Chilton of Lynchburg. A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at Glovier Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jim Burns and the Rev. Charlie Moore. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park with the Stuarts Draft V.F.W. #9339 conducting military rites at the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Matthew Falls, Tyler Humphreys, Wayne Bradley, Charles Bradley, Larry Romaine, Maynard Patterson and Fred Hassett. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Croushorn, Frank Warren, Gary Wright and members of the United Methodist Men of Glovier Memorial United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Reynolds Funeral Service of Waynesboro.
