Obituary: Herbert Lee Ferguson, 1988 Published: Unknown Newspaper Contributor: Dennis Truslow --------------------------------------------------------------------------- AFTON - Herbert Lee Ferguson, 64, of Route 2, died Saturday night (April 30) at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville. He was born in Nelson County on July 27, 1923, a son of Buster James and Ethel Reid Ferguson. Survivors include two sons, Charles Ferguson of Waynesboro and James Ferguson of Afton; four daughters, Mrs. Richard (Maxine) Shearer of Hagerstown Md., Mrs. Linda Breeden of Waynesboro, Mrs. Edward (Tina) Fitzgerald of Afton and Ms. Darlene Ferguson of Charlottesville; two brothers, Austin Ferguson of Afton and Wilbur Ferguson of Crozet; three sisters, Mrs. Pete (Dorothy) Graves and Mrs. Gladys Johnson, both of Afton, and Mrs. Stella Hughes of Nellysford; 10 grand- children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lacy Pearl (Truslow) Ferguson, on May 24, 1979 and by four brothers, Luther Ferguson, Billy Ferguson, Gleason "Buddy" Ferguson and Richard Ferguson. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Rockfish Presbyterian Church cemetery by by the Rev. John Chafee. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Campbell, Gary Graves, Scott Fisher, Larry Ferguson, Chester Fitzgerald Jr. and Mickey graves. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Kidd, Howard Clayborne, the Rev. William Spears and Hampton Truslow. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight in the Waynesboro chapel of Etter Funeral Home.
