Obituary: Bessie (Dillard) Figel, 2003 Source: News and Advance, Sunday, December 7, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow, aquaair@erols.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Bessie Dillard Figel, 93, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003 in the Lovingston Health Care Center. Born in Nelson County Oct. 18, 1910, she was a daughter of the late James Madison and Betty Anne Clements Dillard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Figel Jr. Mrs. Figel had been employed by the Old Dominion Box Factory, and in her earlier years had worked at the Pentagon. She was a member of the former Kingswood Baptist Church. She is survived by four devoted nieces, Dorothy Harlow of Arrington, Marjorie Campbell and Charlotte Lee, both of Madison Heights, and Jessie Abbitt of Amherst; a devoted great-nephew, the Rev. C. Randall Harlow of Roseland; and a number of nieces, nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Essie Dillard Lamb; two sisters, Elsie Hartless and Annie Camden; two brothers, Maynard and Doris Dillard; three half brothers, Walter, Henry and Winston Lockard; and a half sister, Pearl Lockard. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2003 at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home, followed by visitation until 8:30 p.m. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Meade Cemetery in Madison Heights by the Rev.
