OBITUARY: REV. WOODY FITZGERALD, 1964 SOURCE: unknown newspaper CONTRIBUTOR: Carol Harlow ------------------------------------------------------ The Rev. Woody Fitzgerald, Rt. 1, Stuarts Draft, died in the Veterans' Hospital in Richmond Sunday evening (May 31, 1964). Born in Nelson County April 8, 1895, he was a son of the late Alexander and Evaline Hatter Fitzgerald. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Viola B. Painter Fitzgerald, five daughters, Mrs. Burford (Myrtle) Peters, Mrs. Fairley (Rachael) Conner, Mrs. Wayne (Rebecca) Rankins, all of Greenville; Mrs. Dayton (Alma} Rickman, Stuarts Draft; Miss Ruth Fitzgerald, at home; four sons, Lloyd Fitzgerald, at home; Charles Fitzgerald, Ernest Fitzgerald, both of Stuarts Draft; Donald Fitzgerald, Tarpon Springs, Fla.; one brother, John Fitzgerald, Stuarts Draft; a sister, Mrs. Effie Lane, Ky.; and 15 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at three p.m. from the Pentecostal Church in Staunton conducted by the Rev. Edward Wood assisted by the Rev. Shepherd. Burial will be in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers Tom Harris, Cleve Snead, Herbert Nuckols, Russell Fitzgerald, Willie Nuckols, Carl Hatter, H. A. Spitler. Grandchildren will be flower bearers. The body will be taken from the Rosen Funeral Home to the church one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers are requested to meet at the church at 2:45.
