Obituary: Chester R. Fitzgerald, died May 23, 1985 Source: Unknown newspaper Contributor: Dennis Truslow -------------------------------------------------------------------------- STUARTS DRAFT - Chester Randolph Fitzgerald, 59, of Route 2, Box 372, died Thursday morning in Waynesboro Community Hospital. He was born July 3, 1925, in Augusta County, a son of the late B. G. and Ninnie Truslow Fitzgerald. Mr. Fitzgerald attended Sherando United Methodist Church and retired in 1983 from Du Pont Co. with 36 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of Back Creek Sportsmans Club. He had been active for many years in the Sherando Lyndhurst area in sports activities. Survivors include three sons, Chester D. Fitzgerald and Ernest R. Fitzgerald, both of Stuarts Draft and Bruce R. Fitzgerald of Lyndhurst; a brother, B.G. Fitzgerald of Stuarts Draft; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn M. Carey and Mrs. Dorothy E. Willey, both of Waynesboro; six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Sherando United Methodist Church by the Rev. David J. Greenawalt and Jesse W. Bridge. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Active pallbearers will be Maynard Patterson, Elmer R. Lunsford, Norman Painter, Edward F. Coiner, R. M. Harmon and Barry T. Robertson. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric T. Coiner, Richard L. Patterson, Steven M. Campbell, Corky Craig, Darrell Willis, Sidney Ray Shirley, Eddie D. Shirley, Randolph J. Carr, Kenneth B. Lunsford and Charles H. Lunsford Jr. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at McDow Funeral Home. Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions to the Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad.
