Obituary: Manley Pleasant Fitzgerald, 2002 Source: Staunton Daily Newsleader, 25 Apr 2002 Contributor: Carol Harlow --------------------------------------------------------------- Manley Pleasant Fltzgerald 92, of Fairfield, died Tuesday, April 23, 2002 in the Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville. Mr. Fitzgerald was born on September 17, 1909 in Nelson Co. and was a son of the late Howell G. Fitzgerald and Josephine Ramsey Fitzgerald. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Coffey Fitzgerald. He was the President of the M.P. Fitzgerald Lumber Co., Inc. in Fairfield. He was a member of the Fairfield United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Fairfield Ruritan Club with 45 years service and a charter member of the South River District Volunteer Fire Department. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Mr. Fitzgerald is survived by two sons, Eugene M. Fitzgerald & his fiancee, Jackie Norcross, Fairfield, Garland R. Fitzgerald, Greenville, one grandson, Casey Fitzgerald, Stuarts Draft, a number of nieces & nephews, a special friend, Margie Hartless and several care givers. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 AM Friday, Apri1 26, 2002 in the Fairfield Cemetery with Rev. James Simmons officiating. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Fairfield United Methodist Church, c/o Dorothy Eakin, 198 Rocky Hollow Road, Fairfield, VA 24435.
