Obituary: Essie Fitzgerald, 1982 Source: Unknown newspaper Contributor: Charlie Truslow ------------------------------------------------------------ AFTON - Mrs. Essie Fitzgerald, 72, of Rt. 2, Afton, died last night (May 18, 1982) in the Towers Nursing Home in Charlottesville. She was born in Nelson County, February 7, 1910, daughter of the late Obediah and Heathie Puckett Fitzgerald. She was a member of the Beech Grove Christian Church. Survivors are three grandchildren, Mrs. Douglas (Lisa) Wright of Crimora; Ms. June Thompson and William Brent Fitzgerald, Jr. both of Waynesboro; four great granddaughters; one brother, James Fitzgerald of Waynesboro; two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Barker of Waynesboro and Mrs. Carrie Storey of Charlottesville; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie E. Fitzgerald; a son, William Brent Fitzgerald; three brothers, Theadie, Curtis and Maury Fitzgerald; four sisters, Susie Perry, Ressie Perry, Willy Spencer and Dora Spencer. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Etter Funeral Home, conducted by James Floyd and Robert Barker with interment in Beech Grove Christian Church Cemetery.
