Obituary: Effie H. Fitzgerald, 1984 Source: Unknown Newspaper Contributor: Carol Harlow ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Effie Fitzgerald Effie Hall Fitzgerald, 88, of 616 Fourteenth St., died Monday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gene "Sylvia" Bower, where he was making his home. He was born in Montebello on Jan. 29, 1896, a son of Wade and Nellie Harvey Fitzgerald. He was a member of First Christian Church, a retired farmer and a long-time resident of Nelson County before his retirement. His wife, Mrs. Dessie Maude Fitzgerald, preceded him in death on Oct. 26, 1983. Survivors include four other daughters, Mrs. Henry "Marjorie" Campbell, a resident of Liberty House Nursing Home, formerly of Nelson County, Mrs. Ralph "Irene" Breeden, Mrs. John "Joyce" Koogler and Mrs. David "Violet" Pultz all of Waynesboro; two sons, Effie H. Fitzgerald Jr. of Laurel, Md., and Chester F. Fitzgerald of Nelson County; two brothers, Hersey Fitzgerald and Mandred Fitzgerald both of Salem; three sisters, Mrs. Ollie Farris of Waynesboro, Mrs. Mattie Campbell of Roanoke and Mrs. Vera Farris of Bristol, a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great- great- grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the Waynesboro chapel of Etter Funeral Home, conducted by Phillip R. Forehand and Ralph Coffey. Burial will be in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Curtis Clatterbaugh, James Campbell, Eddie Chester Jr., Edward Fitzgerald, Michael Fitzgerald, Ronnie Pultz, Jeff Pultz and Kevin Breeden. Honorary pallbearers will be Chesley Puckett, Jack Norman, Thomas Harris, Cecil Fitzgerald, Phillip Engleman, Wilson Coffey, Page Grove, Ralph Coffey, Phillip Thompson and Dr. G.C. Ayers.
