Fitzgerald, 84, of 348 S. Laurel Ave., died Tuesday afternoon (July 14) in the Waynesboro Community Hospital. He was born in Nelson County on Nov. 29, 1902, a son of Obidiah and Hattie Puckett Fitzgerald. He was a member of West Waynesboro Church of Christ and a member of the Waynesboro Senior Center . Survivors include his wife, Evie Meeks Fitzgerald; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Helen) Hodge of Waynesboro and Mrs. Stephen (Joyce) Bagby of Greensboro, N .C.; four grandchildren, 12 great- grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He was the last member of his immediate family. A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the Waynesboro chapel of Etter Funeral Home by Phillip R. Forehand, with burial in Augusta Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Stanley Hodge, David Hodge, Billy Morehead, Michael Easton, Wayne Glass and Bob Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be Houston Huffman, Dr. David, Crawford, Bill Ferrier, George McCourry, Grafton Simpson, Henry Pleasants, Lester Hogshead, Ray Turner, Sterling Simpson and Jack Davis. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dolly Glenn Fitzgerald.
