Obituary: Bertha S. (Mayo) Fitzgerald, 2003 Source: The News Leader, Friday, December 5, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow, aquaair@erols.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ AFTON -- Bertha (Susie) Fitzgerald, (93), a resident of St. Luke's Assisted Care Residence, Waynesboro, formerly of 56 Deerfield Road, died Wednesday (Dec. 3, 2003) at Augusta Medical Center. She was born Nov. 7, 1910, at Nelson County, to William Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Lowe) Mayo. Mrs. Fitzgerald was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Theodore R. Fitzgerald; a son, Roger Dale Fitzgerald; three sisters; and three brothers. Survivors include a son, Russell W. Fitzgerald of Afton; two daughters, Betty A. Haines of Waynesboro and Shirley M. Estabrooke of Montross; two brothers, James R. Mayo of Kearney, Neb., and Paul R. Mayo of Windsor; and two sisters, Mae Truslow of Fishersville and Margaret Cash of Afton. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Reynolds Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Burial will be at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery.
