Obituary: Ruth Mays Floyd, 2003 Source: The Daily Progress, January 8, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow, aquaair@erols.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Ruth Naomi Mays Floyd, died peacefully Tuesday, January 7, 2003, at the Lovingston Health Care Center. Born in Nelson County on June 3, 1917, she was a daughter of the late George N. Mays and Bertha Eva Cunningham Mays. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, George Carrington Floyd, on Aug 29, 2001; three brothers, Winfred, Baylor and George Mays; two sisters, Evelyn Thacker and Esther Weaver; two sons-in-law, Ronald McQuary and Richard Bryant; a daughter-in-law, Candice Floyd; and two grandchildren, Vincent Floyd and Cassandra Floyd. She was a life-long member of Bethel church of Brethren in Arrington. She is survived by three daughters, Luellen Hunt and her husband, Charles, of Covesville, Brenda Martin and her husband, James, of Arrington, and Lavenia Taylor and her husband, David of Faber; two sons, George T. Floyd of Lovingston, and Maynard Floyd and his wife, Joan, of Spout Springs; six grandsons, Carl McQuary and his wife, Janie, of Fairbanks, Ala., Charles Floyd of Louisa, J.J. Martin of Arrington, Bradley Floyd of Spout Springs, and Matthew and Michael Taylor, both of Faber; five grand- daughters, Regina Hughes and her husband, Sam, of Shipman, Suzanne Viar and her husband, Franklin, Vickie Campbell and her husband, Billy, and Sandra Martin, all of Arrington, and Kelly Taylor of Faber; seven Great-grandchildren, Ethan and Kendall Hughes, Bridgett and Joseph Viar, Nick Magliochetti and Brandy and Destiny Campbell; and one sister, Eunice Griffin and her husband, Earl, of Buckingham. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Bethel Church of the Brethren in Arrington by the Rev. Wayne Pennington, with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home in Roseland, and other times at the home of her daughter, Brenda Martin in Arrington.
