Obituary: Betty (Sheffield) Branch Gamble Source: The Daily Progress, Thursday, October 23, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow, aquaair@erols.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Betty Ann Sheffield Branch Gamble 73, of Lovingston, (Nelson County), died Wednesday Morning October 22, 2003, at Martha Jefferson hospital in Charlottes- ville after a brief illness. Born October 29, 1929, in Lovingston she was the daughter of the late Benjamin (B.B) Sheffield and Eunice Ponton Sheffield. She was a member of Nelson United Methodist Church. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband George Lee (Slick) Branch in 1961 and her second husband Dr. James Harry Gamble in 1988. She is survived by her daughters Donna B. Towner and husband, CAPT. Richard (Rick) Towner of Stafford, Va. and Linda B. Grose and husband, Gary of Elkins, W.Va.; five grandchildren Joyce L. Towner of Tampa, Fla. Michael B. Towner stationed with the U.S. Army in Bamburg, Germany, David L. Grose of Key West, Fla., Allen R. Grose and Brian L. Grose both of Elkins; one aunt Mrs. Ethel (Pete) Currier; one uncle Thomas (Winks) Ponton both of Charlottesville; three Step-Children Honorable J. Michael Gamble, Mark H. Gamble and Martha G. Lee. A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the graveside in Mountain View Cemetery in Lovingston with Rev. Jim Hassmer and Rev. John Campbell officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home anytime today and the family suggest that memorials take the form of contributions to the Nelson Co. Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 44, Faber, Va. 22938.
