Goff, 78, of Faber died last night at his home after a long illness. Born November 19, 1887, in Bedford County, he was the son of the late Silas and Amanda Tyler Goff. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Nelson County. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Julia Phillips Goff; five sons, Gilbert Goff and Dillard Goff of Schuyler, Melvin Goff and Calvin Goff of Faber and Howard Goff of Charlottesville; five daughters, Mrs. Mattie Thompson of Faber, Mrs. Bertha Weeks of Union , N.J., Mrs. Amanda Phillips of Richmond, Mrs. Margaret Pace of Charlottesville and Mrs. Louise Moyer of Crozet; one sister, Mrs. Lettie Simpson of Faber; thirty-one grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.The funeral will be held at 2 P.M. Monday at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Sheffield Funeral Home at Lovingston is in charge of arrangements.
