  Walter S. Gray, 62, of Afton, (Nelson County), died at his residence on Wednesday, 
April 16, 2003.
  He was born in Albemarle County on October 7, 1940, to Myrtle Rebecca Craig Gray 
and the late Stuart Virgil Gray.
  He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Gray; two sons, Donnie Lee Gray of Waynesboro 
and David Eads Gray of Afton; one step-daughter, Melinda K. Eads of Richmond; one 
step-son, T.G. Eads of St. Paul's, Va.; one grandson, Cody Gray of Stuarts Draft; four 
brothers, Kenneth Gray and his wife, Linda, of Greenwood, Robert Gray of Greenwood, 
Roger Gray and his wife, Melissa, of Greenwood, and Dennis Gray of Afton; five sisters, 
Lillian "Sis" Gray of Afton, Annie Williams and her husband, Norman, of Barboursville, 
Jane Wells and her husband, Roger, of Afton, Brenda Gray White and her husband, Rick, 
of Crozet, and Teresa Goode and her husband, Hunter of Afton; many nieces and nephews, 
great-nieces and great-nephews.
  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming and was retired from Con-Agra.
  Family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in 
Crozet.
  A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2003, at the Church 
of the Blue Ridge, Afton, Va., with interment to follow at the Hebron Baptist Church 
Cemetery.  Pastors Whitney Critzer and Jim Ailor will officiate.
  Anderson Funeral Home, Crozet, is in charge of arrangements.
