Obituary: Johnny H. Grubb Source: The Daily Progress, Friday, October 17, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow, aquaair@erols.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Johnny Hudson Grubb, 62 of Crawford View Road, Afton, (Nelson County), died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at the U.Va Medical Center in Charlottesville. Born Nov. 18, 1940, in Tazewell County, he was a son of Ida Catron Grubb of Afton and the late Archie Grubb. He was a retired employee of the Drake Company of Afton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Agnes Dickens Grubb, one sister, Patsy Jean, and two brothers, Joe and Steve. Besides his mother, Ida C. Grubb, he is survived by five daughters, Phillis Ann, Judy, Cathy, Tina, Debbie and Ida also three sons, Johnny Jr., David and Steve. Two sisters, Carolyn Grubb of Afton and Cynthia Sisk of Charlottesville and two brothers, Henry and Wade Grubb, both of Afton. 21 grandchildren, three nieces, five nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Also special friends, Amber Thompson and Fred and Audrey Reed. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston with interment in the Hebron Cemetery at Afton. The family will receive friends today from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home and suggest that memorials take the form of contributions to the Rockfish Valley Rescue Squad at Afton, Virginia 22920.
