Obituary: William Lynn Harvey, 2002 Source: The Daily Progress, July 30, 2002 Contributor: Dennis Truslow -------------------------------------------------------- William Lynn Harvey, 84, of Arrington, died Sunday, July 28, 2002, in Winterhaven Nursing Home in Charlottesville. Born June 29, 1918, in Davis Creek, Nelson County, he was the son of the late William Tunstall Harvey and Dorothy Seay Harvey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Carlton Harvey; and a sister, Margaret Hill. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and a World War II Navy Veteran, having served on the Battleship Texas as a Signalman. He was a member of VFW Post No. 7701 of Colleen and was the owner of Harvey Oil Company of Arrington for over 25 years until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Frances Proffitt Harvey; a daughter, Vickie H. Adkins and her husband, Charles, of Earlysville; a grandson, Paul Adkins of Ashville, N.C.; a granddaughter, Kimberly Adkins of Woodbridge; a greatgrandson, Jake Adkins of Ashville, N.C.; three brothers, Douglas Harvey, Richard Harvey, and Clyde Harvey, all of Lovingston; two sisters, Dorothy Jackson of Powhatan and Annie Kauffman of Lynchburg; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston with the Rev. Pete Russell officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Memorial Park with Military Rites accorded by VFW Post No. 7701 of Colleen. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials take the form of contributions to Roseland Rescue Squad, P.O.
