Obituary: Mary Louise (Stevens) Hatcher, 2003 Source: The Daily Progress, March 24, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mary Louise Stevens Hatcher, 95, of Lynchburg, passed away Sunday morning, March 23, 2003, at the Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born Oct. 29, 1907, in Lovingston in Nelson County, a daughter of the late Marshall Hill Stevens and Lavinia Burnett Stevens. She was also the widow of Larney W. Hatcher and was also preceded in death by her sisters, Gladys Jones Akers and Hazel Stevens Wright; and her nephew, Marshall Stevens Jones. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Court Street, Lynchburg and a former member of the Former Lovingston Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Lovingston High School. She is survived by her sister, Virginia Stevens Mays and her husband, Thurmand, of Altavista; a nephew, T. Michael Mays of Altavista; and a niece, Margaret Jones Watts and her husband, Nelson, of Madison Heights; two great-nieces, Melenie Srsie and Paula Stinnette; two great-nephews, Justin Mays and Curtis Watts; a number of great-great-nieces and nephews; and a great-great-great-nephew. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston, with the Rev. John P. Campbell officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain Cove Cemetery near Lovingston. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
