  Marguerite Ann Herring, 74, of Charlottesville, died Saturday, June 28, 2003, 
in a local nursing home.
  Born June 22, 1929, in Charlottesville, she was the daughter of the late 
Preston Gianniny and Lula Fitzgerald Gianniny (of Nelson County). She was also 
preceded in death by her brother, Melvin A. Gianniny.
  She retired from Centel, was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and will be 
surely missed by family and friends alike.
  She is survived by her husband, Clement A. Herring, Sr. of Charlottesville; 
a daughter, Janet Jones and her husband, John, of Charlottesville; a son, Clement 
A. Herring, Jr. and wife, Brandy, of Charlottesville; a brother, Preston Earl 
Gianniny and wife, Margie, of Charlottesville; a grandson, Nicholas Franklin 
Herring; two step-grandsons, Justin Morris and Jermaine Norman; a special cousin, 
Clyde Gianniny; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Kay, Kathy, 
Jessica Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Snead, Roy and Alice, Clara and PeeWee.
  A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at Hill & 
Wood Chapel with the Rev. Rick Sadler officiating. Interment will follow at Holly 
Memorial Gardens.
  The family will receive friends at Hill & Wood Funeral Home on Tuesday, 6:30 to 
8 p.m. The family requests that contributions be made to the Charlottesville/
Albemarle SPCA, P.O. Box 7047, Charlottesville, Va. 22906 for her love of animals.
  Hill & Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
