Obituary: Gleason Johnson Source: The Daily Progress, Sunday, October 5, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow, aquaair@erols.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gleason Johnson Sr., 78, of Covesville, departed this life on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003. He was born in Faber, Feb. 19, 1925, the son of the late Edward Johnson and Rena Hansberry Johnson. He was the husband of Bertha Henderson Johnson. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ella Turner, Ethel White and three brothers, Edward Johnson, Massie Johnson and Tommy Johnson. He was educated in the Nelson County school system. He was a retired cement finisher who gave over 30 years of service at R. E. Lee Construction Company. He was an active member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and served as a Trustee of the church. His great sense of humor and deep sense of concern and care for all will be surely missed. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Bertha Henderson Johnson; four sons, Gleason Johnson Jr. and his wife, Fannetta, of Tacoma, Washington, William Edward Johnson and his wife, Sophia, of Midlothian, Gary Lee Johnson and his wife, Vickie, of Crozet, Paul Johnson and his wife, Dianne, of Charlottesville; three daughters, Barbara Jean Williams and her husband, Ronnie, of Richmond, Catherine Diane Hall and her husband, Maurice, of Charlottesville, and Donna Roberta Johnson of Richmond; two sisters, Amy Cobbs and Ida Alexander of Faber; brother-in-law and sister in-law, Edward and Willie Ann Henderson; 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend James Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Henderson Family Cemetery.
