NELSON COUNTY, VA - OBITUARIES - Gary A. Kidd, 3 Jun 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Source: The Daily Progress, Sunday, June 06, 2004 Gary A. Kidd, 54, of Charlottesville, died Thursday morning, June 3, 2004, in Las Vegas, Nev. Born July 29, 1949, in Charlottesville, he was a son of the late Vernon G. Kidd and Irene Thompson Kidd. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie R. Kidd, and a stepbrother, Robert L. Kidd. Gary was a 1967 graduate of Nelson County High School and a 1983 graduate of the Mending Hall School of Auctioneering at High Point, N.C. He was a U.S. Army veteran with C BTRY, 2nd BN, 59th ARTY and was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, and Nuremberg, Germany. After his military service he accepted employment with Sprint as an installation/repair technician, where he made many friends. He retired from Sprint in December 1998. Gary was raised working cattle and loved farming and enjoyed meeting with his friends every Saturday at the Charlottesville Livestock yards. Some of his special friends were Gilmore Bridgewater, Palmer (Pumpkin) Putman and Billy Harris. Gary also enjoyed going out to dinner with his friends Gary and Belinda Fitzgerald as well as hunting with his friends Allen Kidd, Mil-ton Morris, R.E. Simpson and Skip Simpson. His pride and joy, however, was his grandson Desmond and it's going to be hard to explain to Desmond where his DD has gone. Faith and prayers are all we have to cling to his wife, Peggy Pace Kidd; a daughter, Kimberly Kidd Geer and her husband, Steven, of Charlottesville; and a grandson, Desmond T. Kidd-Revis, survive Gary. He is also survived by two brothers, Larry Michael Kidd of Earlysville and Donald R. Kidd of Shipman; two stepsisters, Betty Ann White of Crozet and Peggy K. Mawyer of Richmond; and a stepbrother, Vernon G. Kidd of Fishersville. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2004, at Ridgecrest Baptist Church near Lovingston with the Rev. Steve Thompson officiating and interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston and suggests that in lieu of flowers, Gary would have liked memorial donations to the Desmond T. Kidd-Revis Trust Fund at Dupont C/O, Kelly Fitzgerald, P.O. Box 1365 Waynesboro VA, 22980. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
