Obituary: Marie (Parrish) Kidd, 2002 Source: Richmond Times Dispatch, Nov. 9, 2002 Contruibutor: Dennis Truslow ------------------------------------------------------------------- Marie Parrish Kidd, 91, died November 7, 2002 at her residence, Bay Lake Retirement Home in Virginia Beach, where she resided for the past three and a half years. Born in Nelson County, a daughter of the late Edward Graham Parrish and Fannie Brent Parrish, she was the widow of Guy Lee Kidd who preceded her in death February 11, 1983. Mrs. Kidd attended Madison College and taught in the public schools of Nelson County. A member of Jonesboro Baptist Church, Roseland, she was active in the Woman's Missionary Society serving as president, director and program chairman over a 40-year period. She is survived by two sisters, Kathleen P. Edmondson Worsley of Virginia Beach and Frances P. Patterson of Grottoes. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Louise P. Pritchford. In addition, Mrs. Kidd is survived by numerous nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held November 11 at 1 p.m. at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home in Roseland with Rev. Morris E. (Jack) Campbell conducting the services. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Baptist Church Cemetery with a reception afterwards in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Kidd graduated from Fleetwood High School in 1928, attended Madison College and took extension classes from University of Virginia. She taught in the public schools of Nelson County for 17 years. A member of Jonesboro Baptist Church, she was active in the Woman's Missionary Society as program chairman from 1952-1976 and from 1991-1993 and was a member of the Pine Rose Community Club. She is survived by two sisters, Kathleen P. Edmondson Worsley of Virginia Beach and Frances P. Patterson of Grottoes. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Louise P. Pritchford. In addition Mrs. Kidd is survived by five nephews and one niece, A. Wilson Pritchford Jr. of Staunton, J. Keith Pritchford Sr. of Fla., Frank G. Pritchford of Swoope, Charles H. Patterson III and Thomas G. Patterson of Grottoes and Jane E. Quesenberry of Virginia Beach, a number of great nephews and nieces, and great-great nephews and nieces.
