Obituary: Roger H. Kidd, 2003 Source: The Daily Progress, March 29, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Roger Huffman Kidd, 62, of Jennys Creek Rd., Roseland, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at his residence. Born August 12, 1940, at Charlottesville, he was a son of the late William Jefferson Kidd and Julia Huffman Kidd. He was an employee of the Central Virginia Training Center where he was a Welder and Steam Fitter. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Phyllis Deloris Kidd; four daughters and four son-in-laws, Cynthia Thacker and her husband, Joey, of Roseland, Robin Moore and her husband, Robert, of Concord, Susan Stevens and her husband, Lewis, of Shipman (Nelson County), and Kelly Hedrick and her husband, Charlie of Bumpass; two brothers, Wilson Kidd of Piney River (Nelson County) and Marshall Kidd of Roseland; one sister, Janice Matthews of Lovingston, (Nelson County); and four grandchildren, Chrissy Caward, Darrick Thacker, Amanda Thacker, and Brandon Stevens. A graveside service will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Kidd Family Cemetery at Roseland, with the Rev. David Williamson officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the VFW Withers-Hughs Post 7701. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 1490 Pantops Mountain Place, Suite 200, Charlottesville, Va. 22911.
