  Catherine "Cat" Fitzgerald Kidd, 73, of 102 Kidd Lane, Roseland, died 
unexpectedly Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at the University of Virginia Medical 
Center of complications following open heart surgery.
  Born in Nelson County, July 14, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Maury 
Caskie and Carrie Catherine Fitzgerald. She was preceded in death by her 
husband, N.C. Kidd. "Cat" was a life-long member of Jonesboro Baptist Church 
and sang in the choir until her illness.
  Survivors include her six loving children and their spouses, Wayne "Spunkie" 
and Vickie Kidd, James "Jimmy" and Jane Kidd, all of Roseland, Ray and Cheryl 
Kidd of Waynesboro, Clay and Sherrie Kidd, also of Roseland, Tony and Diane 
Kidd of Amherst, and Catherine K. and Donald Truslow of Afton; her sister, 
Charlotte "Chock" and John White of Lowesville; sisters-in-law, Maybelle 
Fitzgerald of Roseland, and Clara K. Fitzgerald of Crozet; grandchildren, 
Timmie, Duane, Michael, Corey, Alan, Jamie, Nathan, Brian, Christopher, 
Jeremiah and Allicia; three great-grandchildren, Timothy "T.J.", Madison Rayne 
and Chelsea Lynn; a devoted friend, Selena Hughes; and many other special friends. 
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, 
Caskie Fitzgerald; and her sister, Lillian "Sis" Kidd.
  Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2003, at 
Jonesboro Baptist Church by the Rev. John Gordon and the Rev. Richard McDowell 
with burial in Jonesboro Cemetery.
  Active pallbearers will be her grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be 
various friends and members of Jonesboro Baptist Church.
  The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Byrum-Parr Funeral 
Home and at other times at Catherine’s home on Kidd Lane in Roseland.
  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jonesboro Baptist Church Adult 
Choir, Roseland, Va. 22967.
