Obituary: Ella M. Layton, 1991 Source: The News Leader, 22 April 1991 Contributor: Carol Harlow [charlow1@ntelos.net] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LEXINGTON -- Ella Massie Layton, 64, died Thursday (April 18) in a Lexington hospital. She was born Jan. 20, 1927, in Nelson County, a daughter of Sheffie and Nettie Campbell Massie. She was retired from James Lees and was a member of Mt. View Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she taught Sunday school for 20 years. Surviving are her husband, Leslie Layton; three sisters, Mrs. Harry Gregory of Newport News, Mrs. Harold Fitzgerald of Charlottesville and Mrs. Wade Strickler of Waynesboro; and five brothers, Steve Massie and John Massie, both of Waynesboro, Julian Massie of Staunton, Roy Massie of Stuarts Draft and Wayne Massie of Fairfield. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Lomax Funeral Home by the Revs. Donald Fog and Kenneth Hugg.
