Obituary: Evelyn Dolan Martin Source: The Charlottesville Daily Progress Contributor: Ronnie Fitzgerald ------------------------------------------------------------------ Evelyn Dolan Martin Evelyn Dolan Martin, 92 of Schuyler (Nelson County), passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, Jan. 8, 2002, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Born Feb. 2, 1909, in Buckingham County, she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Jeter Dolan. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edd (Hector) Martin and four sisters, Hattie Cole, Viola Carroll, Frances Purvis and Annie Snead. Survivors include five children Carlton Martin of Falls Church, Joyce Lee of Barbousville, Carolyn Lewis of White Oak, Ga., Bobby Martin of Alexandria and Bernie Martin of Charlottesville; eight grandchildren, Elaine Nixon, Elsie Martin, Michael and David Simpson, Patricia Popolo, Mark Martin, Teresa Stone and Cos Martin; and several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Martin was an active, lifelong member of Schuyler Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. She also sang in the choir and regularly attended prayer services. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home, Scottesville, with the Rev. Thomas B. Fowler officiating. Interment will follow at Scottesville cemetery.
