Obituary: Harry T. Napier, 1987 Published: Unknown Newspaper Contributor: Dennis Truslow --------------------------------------------------------------------------- CROZET - Harry Tucker Napier, 95, died Wednesday (March 25) in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Salem. He was born Dec. 27, 1891 in Wintergreen, a son of the late J.O. (James Osborne) and Missoura (Missouri Hortense Truslow) Napier, and was one of 16 children. Mr. Napier was a World War I veteran and served in France. He received the Purple Heart and other metals, one of which was signed by President Woodrow Wilson. He was employed at Mirador Farms for 27 years and owned and operated a grocery store in Yanceys Mill until he retired. He was a member of Hillsboro Baptist Church, Odd Fellows Lodge and Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are one son, Lloyd Napier of Fisherville; two daughters, Joan Gentry of Atlanta, Ga., and Joyce Banister of Savannah, Ga.; one brother, LaDishus Napier of Graham, N.C.; two sisters, Lucy Poole of Arlington, Sydney Napier from San Luis Albispo, Calif.; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His wife, Dinona C. Napier, preceded him in death in April 1986. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hillsboro Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Nolton W. Turner, with interment in Riverview Cemetery, Charlottesville. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Dollins, Bill Stevenson, Frank Patterson, Dabney Via, Mitchell Patterson, Johnny Grinstead. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. E. D. Davis, Frank Yancey, Dick Yancey, Earl Paterson, Stanley Patterson, Andre Nouqaret, Frank Napier, Norman Napier, Roy Napier and Mack Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Friday night in Anderson Funeral Home, Crozet.
