Obituary: La Dishus Napier, born Sept. 29, 1893, died Nov. 1,1990 Source: Unknown Newspaper Contributor: Dennis Truslow ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GRAHAM, N.C. - La Dishus Napier, 97, of 537 S. Maple St. Extended, Graham, died Thursday (Nov. 1) at 2:30 p.m. in Alamance County Hospital. He was born in Wintergreen, Va., a son of the late James and Missouri Truslow Napier. He was the husband of the late Ethel Drumheller Napier and was a retired farmer. Mr. Napier was a veteran of World War I, serving in "E" Co., 38th Div. in Germany, France and Belgium. He received a letter of commendation from John G. Pershing, commander in chief of the American Forces. He was a member of Ireland Street Chapel. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Stovall of Burlington, Ms. Yvonne Napier of Graham and Ms. Nora Haney of the home; one son, Mr. Walter Gordon Napier of Burlington; one sister, Ms. Sidney Napier of Dan Luis Obispo, Calif., 20 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Ireland Street Chapel by the Revs. Eddie Swartz and Pat Duncan with burial at Graham Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be members of the American Legion. The family will be at the Rich &Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 7 to 9 tonight. At other times they will be at the residence. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes before the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Top Youth Camp, c/o Ireland Street Chapel, 430 S.
