  AFTON - Edward Franklin Neese, 91, of 1489 Tanbark Drive, Afton, passed 
away early Tuesday morning at the University of Virginia Medical Center 
in Charlottesville. 
  Mr. Neese was born Oct. 14, 1911, in Afton, (Nelson County), a son of 
the late Walter Nelson and Helen Fifer Neese, he was the last surviving 
member of his family. 
  He was a lifelong member of Hebron Baptist Church. He retired from Basic 
Witz as an inspector of furniture. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. 
  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two 
sisters. 
  Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Cecilia Campbell Neese; one son, 
Edward Franklin "Frankie" Neese Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Afton; two daughters, 
Evelyn Neese Rodes and her husband, Alden, of Afton and Janice Neese Coss and 
her husband, Earl Jr., of Afton; eight grandchildren, Lisa Coss Woolfolk of 
Mineral, Andrea Coss Berry of Shipman, Jennifer Coss of Waynesboro, Stephanie 
Coss Ramsey of Shipman, Jason Neese of Afton, Travis Neese of Afton, Vicki 
Neese of Ft. Defiance, and Roxanne Rodes of Afton; and eight great-
grandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. 
  A service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at Hebron Baptist Church 
in Afton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 
  The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at Reynolds Funeral Service of 
Waynesboro.
