OBITUARY: LEONARD BERKLEY OLIVER, 1984 SOURCE: Daily News Leader, Staunton, VA (Unknown date) CONTRIBUTOR: Carol Harlow -------------------------------------------------------- WAYNESBORO -- Leonard Berkley Oliver, 69, of 1329 Third St. died at 11:24 a.m. Thursday (July 5, 1984) in Waynesboro Community Hospital. Oliver was born in Tyro on Feb. 13, 1915, a son of James Leonard and Froney Lawhorn Oliver . He was a retired heavy equipment mechanic with the former Moyer Construction Co. of Staunton and attended Waynesboro Church of Christ. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gladys (Kidd) Oliver; two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Ann Alford of Waynesboro and Mrs. Shirley Hatter of Fauber; three brothers, James and Charles, both of Waynesboro, and Bernard Oliver of Annandale; six sisters, Mrs. Mariah Kidd Sr., Mrs. Renee Briggs, Mrs. Inez Johnson and Mrs. Francis Brown, all of Waynesboro, Mrs. Estell Thayer of Staunton and Mrs. Maggie Fitzgerald of Crimora; six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday in the Waynesboro chapel of Etter Funeral Home by L. Roger Powell, with burial in Jonesboro Baptist Church Cemetery in Piney River . Pallbearers will be J.W. Oliver Jr., C.H. Oliver II, Clarence E. Kidd Jr., Page Ross Jr., Kenneth Brown, Ronald Fitzgerald, Neil Lucas and Ronnie Hewitt. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Waynesboro First Aid Crew.
