OBITUARY: JAMES W. OLIVER SR., 1989 SOURCE: Daily News Leader, Staunton, VA (Unknown date) CONTRIBUTOR: Carol Harlow -------------------------------------------------------- CRIMORA -- James William Sr., 61, of Rt., Crimora, husband of Shirley C. Oliver, died 7:42 p.m. Friday (July 14, 1989) in Waynesboro Community Hospital. He was born Oct. 29, 1927, in Nelson County, a son of James Leonard and Froney (Lawhorn) Oliver . He was employed by the former Crompton Shenandoah Co. in Waynesboro prior to retiring in 1983. Most recently, he was employed by the Augusta County School System as a bus driver. He was a member of First Christian Church where he served as a deacon. He was also congregation chairman and assistant treasurer . He was an Army veteran and was discharged Jan. 28, 1949. In addition to his widow, he is survived by a daughter, Dian Oliver of Waynesboro; a son, J.W. Oliver Jr. of Crimora; two brothers, Douglas of Annadale and Charles Oliver of Lyndhurst; five sisters, Mrs. Estelle Thayer of Staunton, Mrs. Virginia Fitzgerald of Crimora and Mrs. Mariah Kidd, Mrs. Rene Briggs, Mrs. Inez Johnson and Mrs. Francis Brown, all of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews. A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday in the Waynesboro chapel of Etter Funeral Home by the Rev.
