Obituary: Wallace Lewis Oliver Sr., 2002 Source: The Daily Progress, December 17, 2002 Contruibutor: Dennis Truslow ------------------------------------------------------------------- Wallace Lewis Oliver Sr., 78, of Lowesville, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born Feb. 11, 1924, in Nelson County, a son of the late Wallace Bernard and Laura Fitzgerald Oliver. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Campbell Oliver. Lewis was a World War II Army veteran, serving in both the European and Pacific Theaters. He was a 32nd degree mason and member of the Mt. Vernon Lodge, a member of the Alexandria Scottish Rite Bodies and a member of the Massies Mill Odd Fellows Lodge. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He is survived by two sons, Wallace L. Oliver Jr. and his wife, Regina of Chuckey, Tenn. and Reuben L. Oliver of Amherst; two brothers, Raymond Oliver and his wife, Jeannie, and Johnny Oliver all of Tyro; a sister Mae Thompson of Tyro; a devoted daughter-in-law, Linda Oliver of Lowesville; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home by the Rev. David Williamson. Burial will follow in the Jonesboro Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post No. 7701.
