He was born in Tazewell County West Virginia, December 24, 1881, a son of the late E. Martin and Mary Jackson Patrick. He was a retired employee of the Virginia Bridge Co. in Roanoke. Besides his wife, Mrs. Lacy Truslow Patrick, he is survived by one daughter Mrs. Homer (Lelia) Weaver of Waynesboro; three sons, James W. Patrick of Roseland, William G. Patrick of Nellysford, and John R, Patrick of Greenfield; one brother, Edgar Patrick of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; 14 grand children; 17 great grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Beech Grove Christian Church by the Rev. J. D. Farries and the Rev. Ralph Hyder. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be McCoy Patrick, Wayne Patrick, Roger Patrick, Dean Fitzgerald, Caskie Fitzgerald, Michael Marshall, Homer Weaver Jr., and Shirley Snow Smith III. Honorary pallbearers will be Lewis Fitzgerald, Leslie Fitzgerald, Haywood Campbell, Willie Fitzgerald, Forest Duncan, Johnny Falls, B. C. Small Sr., Guy Duncan, Norman Duncan, Eddie Mawyer, John Huffinan, Worthy Thompson, Grafton Truslow, Gordon Hughes, Arthur Bryant, Charlie Baker, Bill Wiggins and Jessie Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends at the Preston Parr Funeral Home in Roseland from 7 to 8 tonight.
