OBITUARY: William E. Phillips, 1994 SOURCE: Unknown newspaper CONTRIBUTOR: Carol Harlow ---------------------------------------------------------------------- STUARTS DRAFT - William Everett Phillips, 80, of 360 Dodge Street, Stuarts Draft, went to be with our heavenly father on Dec. 3, 1994 at 11 P.M. following a heart attack on Thursday. He was born in Nelson County on November 28, 1914, a son of the late John Otto and Hester (Coffey) Phillips. He was a retired local carpenter. In addition to his wife of 58 years Nellie (Bryant) Phillips, he is also survived by three daughters and their husbands, Isabelle and Chesley Wood, Geraldine and Eugene Reed, all of Staunton, Charlene and Donald Mantay of Albuquerque, New Mexico, one sister and her husband, Grace and Robert Couch of Hughsville, Maryland. Mr. Phillips is also survived by the following grandchildren, J. Glen Wood of Staunton, Bruce Wood of Richmond, Eugene L. Reed Jr. of Staunton, Curtis L. Reed of Alexandria, Kenneth C. Reed of Greenville, Keith C. Reed of Verona, Mark C. Reed of Greenville, Lt. David S. Mantay, U.S. Navy, Kailula, Hawaii, Jonathan A. Mantay of St. Augustine, Fla., Jennifer M. Winford and James T. Mantay, both of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The great-grandchildren are Jeffrey Glenn Wood II of Staunton, Randy and Justin Wood, both of Richmond, Misty and Hunter Reed, both of Greenville, Kevin and Carrie Reed, both of Verona, Ryan Reed of Alexandria, Stacey and Brian Mantay of Mt. View, Calif., David N. Winford II of Albuquerque, Morgan Montay of St. Augustine, Fla. and Tosha Willis of Staunton. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
