Obituary: Nettie Elizabeth (Banton) Phillips, 2002 Source: The Daily Progress, Aug. 17, 2002 Contributor: Dennis Truslow ------------------------------------------------------------------- Nettie Elizabeth Phillips, 82, of Schuyler, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at Trinity Mission of Charlottesville. Mrs. Phillips was born Feb. 8, 1920, in Nelson County, and was a daughter of the late William James Banton and Martha E. Brown Mays Banton. She is survived by her husband, Bruce W. Phillips Sr., whom she married Dec. 23, 1939; a daughter, Rebecca A. Phillips of Quinque; a son, Harold L. Phillips of Gordonsville; a daughter-in-law, Helen A. Phillips of Schuyler; two sisters, Doris Ragland and Christine Mau-pin, both of Charlottesville; two grandsons, Quintin and Alfred Phillips; two great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce W. Phillips Jr.; her siblings, Katherine V. Micklem, Dewey F., Hubert L., James A., and Aubrey W. Banton; and two half-brothers, Sam L. and Johnnie M. Mays. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home, Scottsville. Interment will follow in Scottsville Cemetery. Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, Md. 20852.
