Phillips Bruce Washington Phillips Jr., 59 of Schuyler, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Born Aug. 28, 1942, in Charlottesville, he was a son of Bruce W. Phillips Sr. and Nettie Banton Phillips, of Schuyler. He was a former employee of the Scottesville Rubber plant and a former animal control officer with the county of Nelson. Besides his parents, Bruce W. and Nettie Banton Phillips of Schuyler, he is survived by his wife, Helen Meadows Phillips; two sons Alfred B. Phillips and Quinton L. Phillips, both of Schuyler; a brother Harold Lee Phillips, of Gordonsville; a sister Rebecca Ann Phillips, of Quinque, a grandson, Wayne Phillips, of Schuyler; two grand-daughters, Angela M. Harper, of Charlottesville; and Dawn L. Phillips, of Charlottesville; and a great-grandaughter, Savannah Mae McCauley. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the graveside in Scottesville Cemetery, with the Rev. John P. Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, and all other times at the family residence.
