  James Edward "Dinky" Phillips, 79, of Schuyler, died Monday, March 17, 
1997.
  He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alice Phillips; 
and two brothers, Preston and Carl Phillips.
  Survivors include his wife, Mary C. Phillips; one daughter, Faye P. 
McKamey and her husband, Earnest, of Charlottesville; one son Ronald E. 
Phillips and his wife, Shirley, of Keene; one sister, Inez Miller of 
Schuyler; three brothers, Alfred "Bud" Phillips, Bruce Phillips, both of 
Schuyler, Jimmy Phillips of Spout Springs; three grandchildren, Ronald E. 
Phillips Jr. of Schuyler, Greg McKamey of Charlottesville, and Sandy 
Maslen of Earlysville; and two great-grandsons.
  Mr. Phillips was a member of New Faith United Methodist Church, Schuyler, 
and had retired from Monticello.
  A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Thacker Brothers 
Funeral Home, Scottesville, with the Rev. George E. Reynolds officiating. 
Interment will follow at Rock Spring United Methodist Church Cemetery, 
Faber.
  Mr. Phillips will lie in state today from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral 
home.
